Brian Powers and Jim Miller started Powers & Miller in January 2003. The founding partners wanted to establish a firm dedicated to providing great results on a cost-efficient basis. They also wanted to surround themselves with talented and creative lawyers who share the partners' dedication to the clients. Since 2003, Powers & Miller has continued to maintain its mission of providing great results cost effectively by defending individuals and companies in complex litigation for a wide range of commercial and insurance clients. We handle motor vehicle, trucking accidents, premises liability, products liability including medical devices, and general negligence actions. Lawyers in the firm have also represented clients in elder abuse, sexual abuse, and race discrimination matters.

Powers & Miller handles litigation matters in a team approach. The teams are supervised by the shareholders. Associates assist the shareholders in all aspects of the litigation; however, the shareholders maintain ultimate responsibility for the cases. The team approach benefits our clients by assuring that one of our lawyers will always be available to respond to questions and comments. Our approach allows shareholders and associates to pool their unique experiences and perspectives in developing strategic plans to resolve our clients’ cases in an efficient and cost-effective fashion.

The firm is located in Sacramento, California. Our lawyers practice throughout Northern and Central California and in the Eastern and Northern Districts of the United States District Courts of California. Our attorneys have handled cases or have tried cases to verdict in counties including Alameda, Butte, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Lake, Marin, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, San Joaquin, Shasta, Stanislaus, Solano, Sonoma, Sutter, Tehama, Tuolumne, Yolo, and Yuba. We also have recently expanded our practice area to Southern California.
