John Sciacca is a partner at Powers Miller specializing in civil litigation with an emphasis in personal injury defense litigation. He also has extensive experience defending individuals in real property disputes, libel and defamation. John has significant experience in the practice of Anti-SLAPP litigation and has never lost a motion to dismiss on that grounds.
John’s strength is in providing objective, concise, and straightforward evaluations to clients. He describes himself as “privileged to work with people who come from diverse backgrounds and experiences.” Prior to Powers Miller, John was a law clerk and in-house counsel for State Farm Insurance Company.
John has the distinction of being a fifth-generation California lawyer. His family, whose history of legal practice dates back to the 19th century, includes two U.S. attorneys, a California Supreme Court justice, and a former member of one of the state’s oldest law firms.
John’s experience includes first chair jury trial to verdict and binding arbitrations.
Baseball is a longtime passion of John’s. He is a former collegiate baseball player who has coached youth baseball teams in his community for years. John and his wife, Laura, are parents to Max, Abby and Charlie.
