John Sciacca is a partner at Powers Miller specializing in civil litigation with an emphasis in personal injury defense litigation. He also has extensive experience defending individuals in real property disputes, complex personal injury with traumatic injuries and wrongful death, landlord tenant disputes, federal maritime and admiralty, bad faith and libel and defamation. John has significant experience in the practice of Anti-SLAPP litigation and has never lost a motion to dismiss on that grounds. John also routinely represents underinsured defendants in complex traumatic injury cases involving personal contributions.
John’s strength is in providing objective, concise, and straightforward evaluations to clients. John is straightforward with opposing counsel and relies more on his reputation rather than a mediator in resolving cases. John has a diverse background working as a teacher, head varsity baseball coach, working in probations, and as a former in-house attorney for a major insurance carrier.
John has the distinction of being a fifth-generation California lawyer. His family, whose history of legal practice dates back to the 19th century, includes two U.S. attorneys, a California Supreme Court justice, and a former member of one of the state’s oldest law firms.
John’s experience includes first chair jury trial to verdict and binding arbitrations.
Baseball is a longtime passion of John’s. He is a former collegiate baseball player who has coached youth baseball teams in his community for years. John and his wife, Laura, are parents to Max, Abby, Charlie, Clara and Sam.
